This one is going back in time a bit to a trip I took to the Ozette Coast of Olympic National Park early this month. I didn’t get to take nearly as many pictures here as I’d have liked due to the rain and fear of ruining my camera. I have to say, the Pacific was extremely calm, as was the wind There is something to be said for making sure you read the tide charts and understand how they affect passages when hiking the coast… The 3am hike back by headlamp to beat high tide was an adventure.

Lake Mills from Observation Point

Here is another shot from my trip to the Olympic Peninsula. It was taken on January 18th at 13:29. Observation Point is up the road from the Elwha entrance to the park. This area was a lot lower in elevation than Hurricane Ridge and thus had way less snow.

Next time I go out to the peninsula I’m going to have to go visit the Hoh Rain Forest.

Hurricane Ridge @ Olympic National Park

I took this shot from Hurricane Ridge on January 17th, 2009 @ 14:25 pm. Snowshoeing in Hurricane Ridge was the highlight of my first trip out to the Olympic Peninsula. Even though it was the middle of January, the sun was out and the temps were in the high 50′s. After about 45 minutes worth of snowshoeing I had to strip the layers off down to just a t-shirt.

I’m going to most likely post more shots from the trip but it is taking me a good bit of time to go through and decide which ones should go up. I highly recommend getting out to the Olympic National Park if you get a chance.

Lanham Lake @ Steven’s Pass

So ya… It is really ridiculous how long it has been since I posted anything. Here is a decent shot, but not a great shot, I took while snowshoeing up in Steven’s Pass a few weeks back. The shot was taken 2/9/2009 @ 13:13 pm.

I have a few other pictures I’ll be putting up over the next few days (at least that is my intention now). Part of the problem is I’m still getting used to my new camera and I’m getting a lot of shots, but not a lot of great shots. Anyway, stay tuned.

Done with the backlog

Ok. Time for a quick informational message. I’m done with going back and posting old posts now. Out with the old, in with the new. From now on I’m not going to fudge the timestamps to match the pictures time-stamp anymore because lets be honestly, it doesn’t matter. What I am going to try and do is take post 1-3 shots a week, preferably ones that were taken that week… but possibly not if it is a boring week. The over under on how many weeks in a row I can successfully pull this off is at 3. Any bets?!?
